Note Value Exercise
Understand Notation With This Note Value Exercise!
This exercise is designed to help you build on your understanding of note values, and how to read them in sheet sheet music.
The exercise starts off with a bar of quarter notes on the bass drum and hi-hat foot pedal. Next it adds in the snare drum, still in quarter note intervals and for a bar. The next bar uses eighths and adds in snare hits in between the snare, bass, hi-hat combination from the previous bar.
After that you move into practicing eighth note triplets, followed by sixteenth notes, sixteenth note triplets, and thirty-secondth notes. In all of these exercises, the top of the beat is played with the snare, bass, hi-hat combination and the rest of the beat is played solely on the snare.
